CODL stands for Centre for Open and Distance Learning. It is a support unit under Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) that focuses on facilitating open and distance education for both lecturers and students.

CODL is located at Kampus Teknologi of UTeM, Jalan Hang Tuah, Melaka. For exact directions, you may refer to the map available on the UTeM website.

CODL operates from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). For specific appointments or bookings, it is advisable to contact the staff in advance.

CODL supports the development and delivery of open and distance learning at UTeM. Its main functions include:

• Assisting in the creation of digital learning content

• Managing iStudio usage for video recording

• Providing training and support for online teaching platforms

• Facilitating learning access for remote students

CODL has three main divisions:

• Division of Digital Curriculum Development – focuses on the development of online course materials and learning structures.

• Division of Digital Operations – manages the operations, support systems, and platforms for online and distance learning.

• Division of Self-Instructional Material Design – specializes in designing self-learning content for effective independent study.

CODL offers various services such as:

• iStudio recording for lecturers and students

• Training room and meeting room usage

• Support for online and hybrid learning

• Technical assistance with platforms like ULearn and Office 365

CODL now has a recording studio iStudio complete with various facilities to meet the needs of lecturers at UTeM providing teaching and learning materials in the form of video. Lecturers can get video recording help in iStudio.

Recording assistance applied must have relevance in the provision of teaching and learning materials only. Duration of video recording can be done in short or long time depending on the needs of the lecturer.

For your information, ULearn uses Microsoft Office365 Single Sign-On (SSO) for user authentication.

There are two (2) ways to reset your ULearn password:

1. Self-Service Password Reset via Microsoft Website
2. Via the CDO Helpdesk (Email or Phone)

1. Via the Microsoft Website

• Visit:
  https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
• Enter your university email address.
• Complete the CAPTCHA verification.

• Select one of the available verification methods:

  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • SMS to your registered phone number
  • Recovery email address

  If no verification options are displayed, your account has not been registered with a phone number or another recovery method. To add a verification method, please visit:
  https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info

• Enter the verification code received.
• Set a new password.
• Then, try signing in to your university email account at:
  https://login.microsoftonline.com/?whr=utem.edu.my
• Once successful, you may log in to ULearn at:
  https://ulearn.utem.edu.my

2. Via the CDO Helpdesk

• Please contact the PPPK Helpdesk at +606-229 2312 or email [email protected] for assistance with resetting your university email password.

  To facilitate verification and further investigation, please provide the following information:

  • Full name
  • Matric number or staff number
  • Phone number
  • Screenshot of the error message encountered

1. SIM (Self-Instructional Material) – Self-learning materials designed to enable students to study independently without the direct presence of a lecturer. Examples include modules, interactive notes, e-books, learning videos, self-assessment exercises, and study guides.
2. MC (Micro-Credential) – A digital certification that validates assessed knowledge, skills, and competencies in a specific or limited field of study, typically delivered through short courses.
3. MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) – An online course that is open to a large number of participants and may be offered free of charge or on a paid basis.
4. ODL (Open and Distance Learning) – A learning approach that allows students to study flexibly from any location, at any time, and through various modes of learning.
5. OCW (OpenCourseWare) – Open educational course materials that can be accessed freely, including notes, slides, videos, and assignments.
6. UCreds – UTeM’s digital learning platform that adopts a 3-in-1 approach by integrating the delivery of Micro-Credential (MC) courses, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes.
7. ULearn – UTeM’s official Learning Management System (LMS), serving as a centralized digital platform for managing course content, distributing learning materials, submitting assignments, conducting quizzes, and carrying out online assessments.
